Harley-Davidson Of Danbury Now Leases Bikes

1-13_FXDB_LOC2In the car business, leasing is common. In the motorcycle business, it’s not. However, Harley-Davidson of Danbury recently introduced a leasing program for used bikes. “We’ve done a couple. Nothing crazy. It’s like anything that’s new. People are hesitant,” said finance manager Paul Pinto.

The dealership is offering 24-month, 36-month and 48-month leases with no mileage restrictions. “A lease is not for everybody,” said Pinto, but it does allow the customer to have a lower monthly payment than buying. “It’s generally $50 to $60 (a month) cheaper to lease a bike than to buy it, and it could take minimal money down to get to a certain payment.”

“The big benefit is that it’s shorter term,” Pinto said, which enables the rider to trade for a different, albeit used, Harley every two years. Just like with cars, the person leasing the bike has the option of buying it at the end of the lease.
