Indian Day Honors Bob’s Indian

SPRINGFIELD, MA – Each year at Indian Day, the Springfield Museums honors a person, company or organization for supporting the heritage of the original Indian motorcycles, which were built in the city from 1901 until 1953 when the company went bankrupt. At the sixth annual show on Sunday the honoree was Bob’s Indian of Etters, PA, which was founded in the 1950s by Bob and Kay Markey.

Accepting the tribute was Robin Markey, who brought along a 1940 Indian racer that his father, Bob, used to compete on. Markey spoke with RIDE-CT & RIDE-NewEngland about the bike’s history:
