BOSTON – Rewards totaling $1,000 are now being offered for the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for stringing wires across trails in state forests in Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association this week added a $500 reward to the $500 reward previously offered by the New England Trail Rider Association for the apprehension and conviction of the culprit(s).Trail riding - 1

It was two weeks ago that the state Department of Conservation and Recreation and Massachusetts Environmental Police warned of “maliciously strung” wires in state forests, including F. Gilbert Hills State Forest in Foxborough, Franklin State Forest, Wrentham State Forest and Freetown State Forest.

The wires were evidently aimed at endangering trail riders; the intent being to cause them to crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Massachusetts Environmental Police at 800-632-8075.
