Watch Isle of Man TT Stat!

titleBOSTON – The word “stat” means “without delay” and it certainly applies to watching some breathtaking and informative new videos on the Isle of Man TT races posted this week on the website called Stat, operated by the “Boston Globe.”

The main video, titled “The Deadliest Race On Earth,” features gorgeous scenery, thrilling race action and a behind-the-scenes look at the races from the perspective of a doctor on the scene and a racer. Stat’s mandate is to report on health, medicine and science.

“It was an incredible thing to see. The guys riding at the TT are inspiring human beings,” Stat reporter/producer Dom Smith said in an email to RIDE-CT & RIDE-NewEngland.

The nearly nine-minute centerpiece video focuses not only on Dr. Sally Simmons, a motorcycle enthusiast who has offered her skills to the TT races for several years, but on racer Savvas Kosmidis. He’s a Greek-born rider who now lives in Worcester, MA.

The video describes the Isle of Man TT as “the fastest, toughest and deadliest motorcycle race on earth.” More than 250 riders have died since the Isle of Man TT began in 1907. Riders compete at speeds of up to 200 miles per hour on a 37-mile course that loops around the island.

Sidebar videos give background on Dr. Simmons and Kosmidis. There’s also an animated video showing the course map and an overhead view of the Isle of Man that is simply dazzling in its beauty.
