A sunny, crisp autumn afternoon and a few hours to spare provided RIDE-CT with the opportunity today to ride up to Westfield, MA to take a look-see at the site of what will 1-Dennis Bolducbecome Indian Motorcycle of Westfield.

While there wasn’t any outside signage or a lot of construction activity, finding the building at 962 Southhampton Road (Route 202/10) was easy.

RIDE-CT’s goal today was merely to get a look at the building, but dealership owner Dennis Bolduc (pictured left) happened to be there, and he provided a tour and some background. He’s an Indian collector whose grandfather, Joseph Bolduc, worked for Indian when the original company was located in Springfield, MA.

Bolduc owns nine complete Indians, parts for a half-dozen more, and already has four vintage Indians on the premises. In addition to the 1941 Four, the 1946 Chief and the 1953 Chief pictured at top, he also has a 1930 101 Scout parked in what was the reception area for the fuel company that previously occupied the building.

Bolduc’s plan is to get the renovation done by year’s end and to create what will be both a dealership and a museum. The target for opening is Jan. 1, 2014. Fuller details will be featured in this Saturday’s RIDE-CT column in “The Republican-American” newspaper. The dealership doesn’t have a website yet, but it does now have a phone number: 413-642-3846.
